BRICKLAYERS & ALLIED CRAFTWORKERS

Bricklayers lay brick, stone, structural tile, marble, concrete block, and other masonry materials to build or repair walls, partitions, fireplaces, sewers, and other structures.  Bricklayers also install firebrick linings in industrial furnaces.
Length of Apprenticeship:
Three
(3) Years

*Apprentices may attend schooling as required.

Wage Information:
Without Training

1st 6 months 50% of journeyman wage
2nd 6 months 50% of journeyman wage
3rd 6 months 70% of journeyman wage
4th 6 months 75% of journeyman wage
5th 6 months 80% of journeyman wage
6th 6 months 90% of journeyman wage

3rd 6 months 70% of journeyman wage
4th 6 months 75% of journeyman wage
5th 6 months 80% of journeyman wage

Basic Requirements:
*Must be at least 18-years old
*Must complete a JATC application
*Must provide a copy of a birth certificate
*Must provide a copy of a photo ID

Working Conditions:
Bricklayers spend the majority of time working outdoors in all types of weather conditions; full-time work.

Recommended Preparatory Classes:
Drafting, blueprint reading, welding or any classes related to construction.

Work Experience: (Helpful, but not necessary for acceptance.)
Experience working with your hands or with general construction is useful.

Entry Process:
*Individuals must complete an application.  (Applications are available year-round on Wednesdays only.)
*Must submit all required materials.
*May be required to appear before the JATC for an interview.

*Applications will be kept on file for two (2) years.
